A bunch of somewhat thuggish soldiers are are in some sort of training mission in 1973 Louisiana. As Deliverance came out in 1972, the gruff and manly cast should have been more aware of the issues that can arise from upsetting the locals. Could be a critique of heavy-handed military intervention, quite probably a Vietnam allegory, either way it is a film that makes Cajun party music horribly tense.
